The Renewable Energy Information Center (CIER) stands today as a vital resource for both the community and tourists, offering a wide range of services and educational opportunities.

Since its reopening in July 2024, CIER has played a key role in promoting sustainable development and education in the Galápagos Islands. The center serves as an important hub for knowledge, art, and sustainability, benefiting both the local community and visitors from around the world.
A major milestone in CIER’s development was the signing of a framework cooperation agreement between Elecgalapagos S.A. and the Fundación Un Cambio por la Vida (FUNCAVID). This agreement supports the implementation of the Galápagos Energy Transition Plan 2050, driving energy efficiency and organizational improvements while fostering joint initiatives for sustainable development throughout the province.
Knowledge, Sustainability, and Art
The center enhances visitor experience through a variety of offerings, including personalized interpretation services, local art and craft exhibitions, a café located on the second floor, IMAX film screenings, and meeting and event spaces.
In partnership with the [Galápagos Technological Institute (ITSGAL)], students from the Tourism Operations Management program provide valuable information about the natural and human history of Galápagos, its flora and fauna, renewable energy projects, energy efficiency programs, and community initiatives.
Visitors also have access to the IMAX screening room, where documentaries and educational films about topics related to Galápagos are regularly shown.
Events and Training
CIER offers fully equipped meeting rooms for public and private events, serving as a versatile space for conferences, workshops, seminars, and community meetings. These spaces are available to local organizations as well as visitors.
CIER’s active presence, through ongoing collaboration with Elecgalapagos SA, FUNCAVID, and other partners, continues to provide an enriching educational and cultural environment that promotes energy efficiency projects and community development.
The alliance with Elecgalapagos SA aligns with FUNCAVID’s strategic priorities: Community Resilience, Education for Sustainability, and Reactivation and Entrepreneurship, which are prioritized through 2030.
